Let’s get it out of the way...it chucked it down.
From 6am.
Until the next day.
Constantly. Without let up.

BUT WHO CARES

Burnhopeside hall is tucked away near Lanchester, Durham.
Rosie and Mike had the hotel and the farmhouse to get ready, since the wedding parties were so big (I’ve lost count)

The girls got ready in one of the large bedrooms, all with individual style and colour dresses. It was really relaxed, with loads family and friends coming in and out.

THE BOYS WERE A LITTLE WORSE FOR WEAR ON THE MORNING, BUT THEY HAD JOBS TO DO.
MIKE AND A NUMBER OF THE GROOMSMEN WORK IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, SO SETTING UP A MARQUEE LIKE THIS IS NOTHING OUT TOO OF THE ORDINARY.

With all the bridesmaids ready and ready to go, Rosie did a first look with her girls.

We managed to track down a dozen umbrellas for the walk from the main building to the marquee.
Rosie & Mike’s ceremony was anything but traditional.
Shannon led the couple in a hand fasting ceremony, a first for me, with candle lighting, and some wonderfully witchy touches that made it feel personal and spiritual.

All the wedding party were up on stage surrounding the couple, where they had readings from close friends, lit candles, drank whisky from a shared wooden bowl (a Celtic tradition and definitely hair of the dog for Mike)

You could feel the love and energy in the room — it was powerful, honest, and completely unique.
Rosie & Mike found shelter in the barn and under the marquees to mingle with their guests
Have I mentioned it rained?
That meant that we kept couple portraits pretty brief, but we went for a short walk around the grounds with a brolly.
There's some lovely little spots around the hall.

The evening kicked off with a Ceilidh. They're always such great fun to photograph, complete chaos!

Rosie and the girls braved the rain to get some shots together

Signing off the evening with Jamagotchi, a local band that plays all the best 90s bangers.
